Day 99 - My Talented Class - Mrs. Cunha - Pine Glen Grade 2

For a few weeks, we have been talking about our talents and struggles in and out of school. Sometimes my students feel frustrated as a learner because learning is hard. We need frequent reminders that everyone has struggles, but to always remember our talents (strengths). I read a book called Tom's Special Talents and then I asked everyone to think of their special talent and then something in school that is difficult. Our talents are baking, writing, hair, sports (baseball, hockey). The things we need to work hard at are spelling, math, writing, and social studies. My students thought it was interesting to see that other kids had similar difficulties.

Day 118 - Fraction Flags - Mrs. Cunha - Pine Glen Grade 2
I asked my students to create a Pine Glen flag using fractions. They also had to assign meaning to the flag and how why it should be Pine Glen's flag. Below are some examples from Althea, Gabby and Rebecca. Mr. Lyons was very impressed with our higher order application in math today.

Day 22 - Burlington Tour Field Trip - Mrs. Cunha - Pine Glen Grade 2

Last week we went on our first field trip. We learned about Burlington history. Did you know Burlington became a town in 1799. On our field trip we went to the common, Marion Tavern, museum, Burial Ground, and the West School. My students really enjoyed this field trip. Thank you to Ms. Horton and the other Commissioners! Enjoy the pictures of our day!

Day 86 - Are You As Fluent As a Third Grader? - Mrs. Cunha - Pine Glen Third Grade

The students in Room 203 are working toward becoming multiplication masters. This means that they will be fluent with the multiplication facts from 0 - 10. Today 3 of my students became multiplication masters! Congratulations to Aditi, Charles, and Shefali! In 3 minutes they solved 100 problems with 100% accuracy.
Last week, Aditi stated that she would be able to complete the timed test before me. I accepted her challenge today and took the same assessment. Although I was able to complete the assessment before her, she finished quickly after me. Congratulations again to Aditi, Charles and Shefali for their hard work on becoming a multiplication master! I look forward to posting more of my student's accomplishments!

Day 58 - Mayflower Project - Mrs. Cunha - Pine Glen Third Grade
Miss Fallon came to Room 203 this morning to help us bring the Mayflower to life with an art project. Students were given parts of the Mayflower to read about and draw what was in each part of the ship. After they drew a detailed picture, it was glued onto the Mayflower. Once completed it will be hanging in the main hallway of our school.
Thank you Miss Fallon for another wonderful lesson!
