Day 144 - Taking care of the Earth and showcasing our talents! - Mrs. Guttenplan - Memorial ELL Staff

With Earth Day on April 22nd, 1st through 5th-grade students have been learning different ways to take care of the environment.  Soon they'll put their language skills to use by delivering persuasive speeches about ways to reduce, reuse and recycle. Meanwhile, K students have been busy studying different fruits and vegetables and writing informational sentences. 

2nd graders reading the story of Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Wangari Maathai,
and her successful efforts to rebuild the forests of Kenya.  

High School Science Center Intern, Dhruvesh, helping students draft their persuasive arguments about why
others should reduce, reuse, recycle.

Day 141 - Sharing Cultures - Principal Dressler - Memorial School


This morning we had the pleasure of meeting Talles' parents in Mrs. Nelson's second-grade classroom.  The Amaral-DeBarros family is new to Memorial School.
They shared wonderful facts about Brazil!

And what could be better than a Samba dance to end our lesson!

Day 180 - Celebrating The End of the Year - Mrs. Guttenplan - Memorial School ELL Teacher

There has been a lot to celebrate as we end this school year!

Reminder that Monday is the last day of school and dismissal will begin @ 11:10. 

The first day of school next year will be Tuesday, September 6th. 

Be sure to visit the Burlington Public Library 
for fun, free events over the summer to keep students engaged in reading.  We recommend that all students read for at least 20 minutes a day 
so they continue making progress over the summer. 

Burlignton Recreation Department also offers lots of activities for students.

(Mrs. Moussa's daughter, who was born Wednesday night.)


We wish her family, and all of you,  a wonderful & fun-filled summer.

Day 156 - "Earth Day Every Day" and other important lessons! - Memorial ELL Blog

As the expression goes "Time flies when you're having fun!" and we've been having fun and learning each day! We look forward to a busy end of the year with various class field trips and school activities.  Here are some highlights of the great work your students are doing. Congrats to 3rd ,4th and 5th graders who showed great effort during the PARCC in April testing!
