Understanding how to work with and in a tech environment is more important than ever before. While the decision regarding where Amazon will locate its next HQ is still up in the air, Amazon and other STEM companies are increasingly seeing the greater Boston area as a good place to set up shop.
Some of these jobs will be “tech” jobs, but every job from maintenance to accounting, to coding, to working with the robots who move merchandise across the warehouse floor will require the ability to understand and work with technology.
Here in Burlington, the EdTech Team and teachers from across the district are working on integrating essential computational thinking and technology skills into the PreK-12 core curriculum and everyday instructional practices so that our students will be ready to take on the challenge of working in jobs that haven’t been envisioned yet. Additionally, we are adopting adaptive learning systems, blended learning, and digital resources to personalize learning so that our students will be well-prepared to continue learning throughout their lives.
